Cartagena, Colombia - 12th May 2011

The soothing, cool coloured streets of Old Town.

Cartagena
Lovely, clammy Cartagena is famous for (amongst other things) being conquered by Sir Francis Drake and being the location for the hit 1984 film 'Romancing The Stone' starring Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner. It sits on the northern tip of Colombia and faces the Caribbean sea. It has 90% humidity and is hot and sticky as hell and therefore is a four, cold showers a day kind of place.

The clock tower bordering the old city walls.

A Caribbean vibe is all over the city and is utterly infectious. On every street corner there are colourful street vendors selling exotic fruit and on every plaza locals play samba music accompanied by twirling dancing girls. We drink the best fruit juices we've ever had and soak up the atmosphere. We're here only a couple of days sadly but leave on a yacht which takes over the border to Panama via the San Blas Islands in the Caribbean Sea.

Mmmmm, dancing girls.

Hire a horse to go around the plaza. Or walk around.

Squatting next to a hot iguana.

Our yacht and our way out of Colombia.
