Srinagar - 18th August

The view from our tent

On arriving in Srinagar we realised that the city was on a total lockdown and the guesthouse wouldn't let us leave. After a sweaty night we bought a 4-day trek up the Kashmir himalayas which was an incredible experience. The local villagers were super-friendly and the gypsy children just wanted to play with us all day.
The walks up the mountains were stunning but very hard work, especially when struggling with light altitude sickness.
On returning to Srinagar we spent a night on a "super deluxe" houseboat on Lake Dal, which was left over from the British Empire. Next morning we woke and at 4.30 to catch a jeep to Jammu.
